Why a Verbal Assurance Is Not Enough
A general note saying equipment was securely disposed of does not hold up under scrutiny. What businesses actually need, and what UK GDPR effectively requires, is documented, device level evidence. Proof that a specific device, identified by make, model and serial number, had its data permanently destroyed on a specific date, using a specific method.

How the Data Is Destroyed
For any device that can still be switched on, we use NIST 800-88 compliant data wiping, the internationally recognised standard for secure media sanitisation. This process overwrites every addressable part of the drive, not just the areas visible through the operating system, to a level that makes recovery impossible by any known method.
Where a device is physically damaged or cannot be switched on, we carry out certified physical destruction of the storage media instead. Whichever method applies, it is recorded against that specific device on your certificate.

Qualifying for Free Collection
Collections with around twenty or more working laptops, Windows 11 compatible desktops or still supported tablets may qualify for free collection. Other devices can sometimes qualify too, so it is always worth getting in touch with a quick list or some photos of what you have. Businesses located close to one another can also combine collections to reach that threshold together, with each business still receiving its own separate paperwork and processing.
A Note on Locked Devices and Tape
Devices still locked to an account or under mobile device management carry little to no resale value and can attract a small charge, so unlocking them before collection is worth doing wherever possible. Magnetic tape is not accepted for disposal under any circumstances.
Beyond Data Destruction: Responsible Recycling
Once data destruction is complete, hardware that can be refurbished is assessed and given a second life. Everything else goes through our zero to landfill recycling pipeline, with materials separated and processed through certified channels. Nothing we collect ends up in landfill, and nothing leaves us with data still on it.
